Held online on 27 September, the Joint ECRB-MEDREG Workshop on “Promoting Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency” gathered more than 40 participants who learned about mechanisms and strategies to integrate renewable energy, and improve energy efficiency in electricity systems.

The first session provided an overview of renewable energy development, its market impact, and the challenges of energy transition, illustrated by case studies from Portugal, Morocco, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine.

The second session emphasised the regulatory challenges of integrating renewables and the crucial role regulators play in enhancing energy efficiency, in the light of case studies from experts across the Mediterranean region and Energy Community countries.
