Assessing Adequacy Mechanisms to Enhance Electricity Systems

The Electricity Working Group (ELE WG) convened to discuss its 2025 report on "The Role of Adequacy Mechanisms in Enhancing the Electricity System".
This topic is of strategic importance for MEDREG members, as adequacy mechanisms are key tools for strengthening the security of supply and supporting the energy transition across the Mediterranean region.

The report explores how adequacy mechanisms enhance the electricity system and assesses those applied in the region. It also showcases best practices from MEDREG members and offers recommendations for further improvement. Upon its adoption by the MEDREG’s General Assembly next November, it will be published in early 2026.
