The ELE WG members convened online to discuss the update of the Mediterranean Electricity Market Observatory.
The RES WG has been analysing the regulatory mechanisms to promote and facilitate the acceleration of the energy transition since 2018.
On 20 March in Paris, MEDREG Director Hasan Ozkoc took part in the Regulatory Acceleration Energy Transition (RETA) Roundtable which gathered RETA participants, delivery partners and other organisations to showcase the progress made so far and define the working plan for the next year.

On 12 March in Rome, MEDREG participated in a conference titled “Transitioning Energy in the Mediterranean”.
On 12 March in Tirana, we participated in an event titled “Energy efficiency as a key pillar for energy transition. Opportunities and perspectives in Albania” which took place in the framework of a Twinning Light Project between Albania and Italia to strengthen the overall capacity and effectiveness of the Albanian Agency for Energy Efficiency.
Meeting online, the INS WG discussed the monitoring of the development of the regulatory framework in the Mediterranean region which it will report in its updated regulatory outlook.

As an active member of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Gas platform, we participated in a high-level conference on “The Role of Gas in the Mediterranean Energy Transition”, held by the Organisation Méditerranéenne de l’Energie et du Climat (OMEC).
In 2024, we launched a new podcast series titled “Energy Voices from the Mediterranean”, which has for objective to highlight our members’ best regulatory practices in challenging and evolving areas.
Three MEDREG members consisting of CREG, EgyptERA, and EMRC representing Algeria, Egypt, and Jordan respectively visited the Portuguese regulator ERSE to learn from the experience of the countries which have already undergone the process or have some track record with the distributed Renewable Energy (RE) connection code, battery storage, and smart meters.
Following the publication of a MEDREG report in March 2013 addressing cross-border coordination for interconnection capacity development, MEDREG will be holding a workshop to analyse the gas infrastructure to improve the flexibility and interoperability of the energy system.
