The MEDREG Electricity Working Group (ELE WG) met in Paris on 26 September, kindly hosted by the French Regulator CRE who welcomed 9 participants from 7 members, representing Albania, Egypt, France, Jordan, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine and Turkey.

The discussions mainly focused on the Electricity Market Observatory Report (MEMO), the priority fields that have been identified by the Steering Committee for the ELE WG and the joint training planned with Med-TSO on regulation for infrastructure investments next December.

The ELE WG also exchanged and took a few decisions on the ERRA proposal to elaborate a joint study on mini-grids, the cooperation with CEER and ECRB on the report for Quality and Security of Supply Study, the EgyptERA’s visit on new cross-border interconnections as well as the UfM Regional Electricity Market Platform.

Finally, Members addressed the projects of common interests and identified several prerequisites for a meaningful methodology such as, inter alia, needs and problems identification, cost and benefit analysis, added value of the projects, redundancy and complexity of the system, identification of the legal framework and system flexibility.
