Mediterranean and Eastern regulators join forces on complaint handling, dispute settlement and consumer awareness
23 October 2018

Milan, Italy
Chaired by Vice President Ms Wejdan AlRabadi (EMRC, Jordan), MEDREG’s 13th Consumer Working Group (CUS WG) met in Milan on 23 October to take stock of the progress made with the ongoing report and discus the priority issues to address next year.

The meeting saw the participation of the ECRB* Customers and Retail Markets Working Group to discuss a joint report that the two organisations are finalising on the status review of complaint handling, dispute settlement and consumer awareness. The first results of the report were presented, with a publication foreseen before the end of the year.

The Consumer working group also discussed a report which is in the pipeline for next year on technical and non-technical losses, led by the Jordanian member EMRC, which presented its national model and results in that area.

Finally, the work plan for 2019 was discussed and approved, in view of its formal endorsement by the next General Assembly in November.

*The ECRB is part of the Energy Community, an international organisation which brings together the European Union and its neighbours in South East Europe and in the Black Sea region to create an integrated pan-European energy market. Gathering regulatory members of both Associations, MEDREG and ECRB decided to put their resources and expertise in common to review the status of these important consumer issues. The report is being drafted by representatives from the two organisations.
