MEDREG welcomes further cooperation with regulators form the Balkans and Black Sea region
7 June 2018
|
Athens, Greece
Represented by Mrs Salma Hussein (Vice Chair of the UfM Energy Platforms Task Force) and Mr Bardhi Hoxha, MEDREG participated in the 23rd Energy Community Electricity Forum, on 7 June in Athens. Contributing with a presentation entitled "Matching pairs? – Energy Community and Mediterranean regional electricity market initiatives", Mrs Hussein provided an overview of the work performed by MEDREG’s working groups and how we are exploring collaboration with ECRB on consumer issues. The Forum concluded that the common membership of regulators in the Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) and Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG), as well as their shared objective of regional electricity market integration called for close and intensified cooperation of the relevant institutions.
This conclusion echoed an upcoming trilateral workshop that the two organisations will hold together with the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) on Consumer Involvement and Retail Market Opening next June 27 in Vienna. This workshop will mark a step further towards closer cooperation between the three regional regulatory bodies, in areas that are of common interest.
